Emily's Bridal Shower | Personal

The other weekend we all gathered at Diann's home to shower Emily and baby Emma. Little Miss Emma will be the 5th kid in the Uhler family, but the FIRST girl! It's pretty exciting! Her shower was hosted by Diann and Nicolette, and was filled with fun, fellowships and of course, food, good food! I'm so excited for Emily and praying the rest of her pregnancy goes well and that Emma arrives safe and sound!

Mount Vernon | Personal

Since I've been a little down lately, Nick decided to surprise me with a trip to Mount Vernon for my birthday! One thing we enjoy doing together is traveling and visiting new places, especially historical spots. Last year we visited Monticello, so he decided this year we should check out another President's home. We also got to see my Aunt Patty and Uncle Gordon afterwards, so that was great!! Here are a few pictures . . .

Rebecca Carol Condon | Personal

The other day my cousin Kathy gave birth to the first little girl in our family in over eighteen years! Rebecca "Becca" Carol Condon was born on October 5th 2011 weighing 8 pounds exactly and was 20 inches long.

It was a sad and joyous day for our family, mainly joyous! Becca would have been the light of my aunt Sue's life if she were still here with us. My aunt was a truly amazing woman and it's a shame her time with us was so short - but she made a lasting impression on us all! She showed her family love, kindness and so much more, and hopefully little Miss Rebecca who takes her late Grandmother's name (Carol) will be just like her! I think she already is the spitting image of her look wise, she was born during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and weighed and measured exactly was my Aunt Sue did with she was born sixty years ago. It's amazing the things God does that make you stop and remember those you loved and see that pieces of them are still with you!

Smithfield and Surry Adventure | Personal

Last Saturday, Nick and I went roaming around Smithfield and Surry. It was a really nice day and the drive was so much fun! We took my camera and my Dad's camera along for the ride so I could get some pictures for class and get some practice in. We passed this one barn or barns that were really torn down, but they were beautiful! I love Rustic America. As we drove through downtown I saw two churches that I really liked, it's something about the way churches are built, especially older ones. Finally we went to Bacon's Castle, which was unfortunately closed to inside tours because it's still kind of torn up from the hurricane. But we went cotton pickin'!

Yorktown Adventure | Personal

I took advantage of this beautiful weather (the calm after the storm) and went to Yorktown with little Miss Sassy Pants to get in some camera time for a school assignment. It was a fun adventure and of course, it started with a trip to Plaza (that girl can down some guacamole!). I had the intentions of taking Hailey to explore Colonial Williamsburg, but Yorktown seemed like a better idea since it was closer. Besides myself as a child, I have never seen a kid so excited to find canons and hidden canons in the trenches. We wandered around for a few hours, Hailey got a history lesson and we snapped some pictures for my assignment . . . Hailey even got a chance to work the camera (meaning I trusted my new camera to a six year old!).
